Custom Resin Paving Design Questions

Every question we get asked about custom resin paving design, answered straight.

Questions

How It Works

  • Can resin paving go over my existing driveway?

Sometimes. If the existing surface is sound, stable, and level, an overlay may be suitable. If the base is cracked, loose, or badly uneven, preparation work is needed first. A base condition check decides which route is right before any design is agreed.

  • What happens if I delay sorting out a failing base?

A deteriorating base continues to move and crack. Laying a resin finish over a failing surface means the new layer will reflect those cracks within months, requiring the work to be redone. Addressing the base first avoids that cost.

  • Will a resin surface be slippery when wet?

The slip resistance depends on the aggregate size and the surface texture chosen at design stage. A specialist can confirm which aggregate blend is appropriate for areas that will be walked on regularly or that are exposed to wet conditions.

  • How is the design chosen to suit my property?

Colour blend, edging profile, and border layout are chosen to complement the property’s existing materials and style. The size of the area, existing levels, and drainage points all affect which options are practical before a final design is confirmed.

  • Do I need to replace the whole drive before a resin finish is laid?

Not always. Some surfaces need only targeted preparation before a resin finish is applied. Others need full excavation because the base is failing. A proper inspection of the existing surface determines which approach is needed.

  • Are drainage channels always required?

Not on every job. Where the surface falls naturally away from the property and water drains freely, channels may not be needed. Where falls are flat or water currently pools, channel drainage is integrated into the design before laying begins.
