How It Works

  • Can resin bound finish be applied to both the tread and the step face?

    Yes. The aggregate and resin binder are applied to the horizontal tread and the vertical riser separately. The base needs to be solid and the edges need shuttering so the finish stays neat and secure on both surfaces.

  • Do my existing steps need to be replaced before resurfacing?

    Not necessarily. If the concrete base is sound with no cracking, movement, or hollow sections, resurfacing is the right route. The specialist inspects each tread and riser first and only recommends replacement where the structure cannot hold a new finish.

  • What happens if I leave worn or chipped steps as they are?

    Chipped nosings and uneven tread surfaces worsen with foot traffic and frost. A deteriorating leading edge becomes a trip hazard, and water sitting in cracks accelerates further damage to the concrete base beneath.

  • Can the finish be matched to an existing resin bound surface nearby?

    Yes. Aggregate stone is selected to match an adjacent resin bound path or frontage. The specialist confirms the closest available match during the site visit before any material is ordered.

  • How is the cost broken down for resin bound steps?

    Base inspection, surface preparation, shuttering, and resin application to treads and risers are each quoted as separate line items. You see what each stage costs before agreeing to any work.
