About this Service
Permeable paving for Hockley village installs resin-bound, SUDS-compliant surfaces suitable for village homes with clay soils. It is appropriate where planners require permeable surfacing to prevent local flooding and protect village drainage systems.
Installations use an MOT Type 1 sub-base compacted to 95% density or a porous cellular sub-base where higher infiltration is needed. Designs account for clay soils that reduce infiltration and can require larger attenuation or deeper excavation. The resin-bound wearing course is UV-stable and set over a designed drainage layer. Permeability targets are engineered to site needs; standard designs aim for around 600mm/hr where subsurface conditions permit. Edge restraints and proper compaction minimise movement on seasonal frosts.
Expect a site survey to determine excavation depth and any need for attenuation tanks. Maintenance is largely limited to sweeping and occasional clearing of gutters and inlet channels to retain SUDS performance.
