Thundersley’s established homes benefit from tarmac-to-resin conversion when tarmac shows aging, cracking, or pooling. The conversion replaces or overlays tarmac with a UV-stable resin-bound surface that reduces maintenance and provides a slip-resistant finish suitable for family driveways.
For Thundersley, longevity depends on sub-base condition. Where tarmac is sound, a mechanically keyed overlay with primer can be effective. Where sub-base weakness, wide cracks, or oil contamination exist, full tarmac removal and an MOT Type 1 sub-base compacted to 95% density are required. Installed systems aim for permeability near 600mm per hour and use slip-resistant aggregate to improve wet-weather grip. Proper edge kerbing and drainage are often necessary on established plots to avoid lateral migration and surface ponding.
A site survey is required to itemise overlay versus removal, excavation depths, and drainage upgrades. Overlay is suitable only when the substrate shows no ongoing movement; otherwise, foundation renewal is the practical expectation to secure a durable resin finish lasting 15–20 years with correct maintenance.
